It’s a passport in itself to be eligible for work opportunities globally.\n\n\n\nEnable you to take the step from divemaster to dive instructor and teaching.\n\n\n\nPersonal development as a scuba diving instructor.\n\n\n\nLearn different ways of teaching.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou are improving and developing your diving skills and knowledge.\n\n\n\nMake yourself more desirable to potential employers.\n\n\n\nIncrease your earning potential and dive career.\n\n\n\nTurn your passion into a career!\n\n\n\nThe dream is to set up your diving school.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat makes the PADI IDC at  Scuba Center Asia different?\n\n\n\n\nYou have to meet the Pro Team and the Course Directors to understand. They are so fun and engaging. They want to ensure you aren’t just learning to certify divers. They want you to learn how to certify divers who learn to love diving. They want you to get other people excited about diving! \n\n\n\n\n\nMost importantly\, they make you feel like family. It may feel scary to do your IDC if Lembongan is far from wherever you call home. But\, once you get here\, you will realize you ARE home. Scuba Center Asia surrounds itself with amazing people who bring you into their circle and treat you as one of their own. \n\n\n\n\nDo you have any tips for someone thinking about starting the IDC?\n\n\n\n\nI mean… JUST GO FOR IT! You have nothing to lose! \n\n\n\nFor those that have decided to go for it and are preparing for their IDC – study study\, study your theory! \n\n\n\nYou get access to your PADI Instructor digital crew pack. This online package includes all different types of PADI materials. One of the most important one is your theory. \n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have that down before arriving\, it cuts down on the time the course director has to lecture in the classroom and makes the whole experience more enjoyable for everyone (you get to sleep in longer and get out of class earlier!). \n\n\n\nFamiliarise yourself with the Instructor Manual\, as you will use this A LOT during and after your IDC. But more importantly\, do your best to understand the five sections of the theory exam like the back of your hand. Your Course Director provides a nice PADI study guide\, so you can study all necessary topics ahead of time. \n\n\n\n\nWhat will I be able to do after my IDC course?\n\n\n\n\nAfter your course\, you can teach Discover Scuba Diving (DSD)\, Scuba Refresher\, Scuba Diver\, Open Water\, Advanced Open Water\, Rescue\, Divemaster\, the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course\, and the PADI AWARE Coral Conservation and PADI AWARE Specialty course. If you choose to learn more\, you can do directly after the IDC some Speciality courses to become a Specialty Instructor. \n\n\n\n\n\nYou are also eligible to become a specialty Instructor and work toward your Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification. This is a brief internship in which you team-teach with a senior dive instructor from Scuba Center Asia!  We highly recommend that\, as you get the best of the best. Be aware though\, there are only a few spots available for this Professional internship at Scuba Center Asia. \n\n\n\n\nWhat is the IDC Instructor Exam like?\n\n\nYou usually take your IE with IDC candidates from several other dive centers in the area. You are examined by PADI examiners (not your course director\, although they are there to support you). On the first day you arrive\, you are given a piece of paper with all the information about the next two days. This includes what your presentation topics will be and what skills you will have to perform in the water. \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 1: Dry (theory and presentations)\n\n\n\nIn the morning you take two exams. The Standards Exam (open book) and the Theory Exam are broken into five equal sections. \n\n\n\nThese sections include equipment\, dive physics\, physiology\, general skills & environment\, and recreational dive planning (RDP). \n\n\n\nYou then take a one-hour break to prepare your presentation. After that\, you present what you have prepared in front of your examination group. \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 2: Wet\n\n\n\nConfined Water | you start the day in the pool\, where you must “teach” two skills to mock students. You must teach the skill and correct any problems the students face when demonstrating the skill. You then have to demonstrate five skills in a skills circuit. \n\n\n\nOpen Water | this mostly happens after the confined session during the PADI IE. Here you show the examiner your two skills in the open water performing each at a demonstration standard with perfect control of your group of students. You then go on to demonstrate rescue scenario seven. Everyone’s favorite! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlmost everyone I have talked to has said that the IE was not as difficult or scary as they expected it to be. \n\n\n\nWhat does a typical day on the IDC consist of?\n\n\n\n\nWe usually arrive in the classroom between 8 am and 9 am and chat with the Pro Team about that day’s plan over coffee. Some days are spent in class\, reviewing theory\, taking practice exams\, or giving presentations. Other days are spent in the pool or ocean\, practicing skills and teaching skills to “students”. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe also learn strategies to correct skills to ensure that our students perform them up to standard. Most days are a mixture of both dry and wet learning. Important if you choose the IDC here at Scuba Center Asia\, you can always expect to laugh and have a good time! \n\n\n\nThe classroom may sound boring\, BUT IT ISN’T! The team is great at finding strategies to engage different learning styles in a fun and interactive way! \n\n\n\n\nHow is the IDC different from the Divemaster (DM) or AI courses?\n\n\n\n\nIn your Divemaster course\, you get the hang of setting up and assisting students and fun divers. But\, there’s a limit on the courses you can oversee. In the IDC\, you dive into teaching various PADI courses. As a PADI Instructor\, you’re authorized to lead numerous dive courses and supervise student divers independently. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe IDC zooms in on teaching. It’s pretty similar to the Assistant Instructor course but cranked up a notch. Imagine the AI course on turbo mode. Everything you do once or twice in AI\, you’re doing ten or fifteen times in the IDC! In other words\, you get more confident and professional by practicing more different diving skills and knowledge assessments.  \n\n\n\nThe IDC is much more focused on teaching. Again\, in general\, people sign in to the full IDC program because of the completeness of the program. \n\n\n\n\nDo you need to be an Assistant Instructor (AI) first?\n\n\n\n\nNot necessarily! You only need to be a Divemaster to qualify for the IDC/IE. This can be a PADI Divemaster or even from another equivalent dive organization like SSI. \n\n\n\n\n\nBeing an AI gives you a taste of what’s to come during the IDC\, but it’s not mandatory. People opt to be an AI before going for Instructor because\, in some areas of the world\, they don’t have access to a Course Director. \n\n\n\n\nWhat do you learn in the IDC?\n\n\n\n\nAs you gear up to become an Instructor\, get ready to dive deep into dive theory. It’s more than just understanding the basics; you’ll need to know the ins and outs\, even more than you did as a Divemaster. \n\n\n\nBut don’t worry\, we’ll guide you through it\, PADI style. \n\n\n\n\n\nNow\, let’s talk about time in the water. You’ll be practicing your skills until you’ve got them down pat. It’s not just about doing them yourself; it’s about being able to teach them like a Pro. And trust us\, there’s plenty to learn – like spotting and fixing the little hiccups students tend to have. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re in a pool or out in open water\, you’ll be getting hands-on experience and honing your skills. It’s all about making sure every student comes out feeling like a champ. \n\n\n\n\nHow is the IDC is structured?\n\n\n\n\nThe Instructor Development Course (IDC) at Scuba Center Asia is structured into two key components: the Assistant Instructor (AI) segment and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. \n\n\n\nThe AI portion\, is basically the initial week of the course\, here you lay the groundwork focusing on essential skills and knowledge. \n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the AI segment\, you progress to the OWSI phase\, spanning the entire 20-day program\, which delves deeper into instructional techniques\, teaching\, and leadership development. \n\n\n\nWrapping up the IDC experience is the PADI Instructor Examination (IE)\, conducted by PADI examiners\, providing a formal assessment of candidates’ readiness to become certified dive instructors.

SUMMARY:Beach Clean-up 2026 07
DESCRIPTION:The monthly beach clean-up on Lembongan island is what we do. Not for a checkbox. But because it unites divers\, locals\, and visitors\, we turn community action into real ocean impact. This island and the ocean around it deserve our continuous love and attention. It’s our legacy\, our home.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt Scuba Center Asia\, ocean protection isn’t a one-off event; it’s a habit. That’s why we organize a monthly community beach clean-up and Dive Against Debris (clean-up dives) on Nusa Lembongan. Not for a photo moment. Not for a checkbox. But because this island and the ocean around it deserve our continuous attention. It’s our legacy\, our home. \n\n\n\nOur monthly beach clean-ups are open to everyone.\n\n\n\n\nDivers\, non-divers\, locals\, expats\, surfers\, and anyone who feels connected to the ocean. This is not about us. It’s about us together. \n\n\n\nWe love seeing the island come together\, dive centers joining forces\, surfers stepping in\, yoga students giving back\, and travelers who’ve just arrived realizing they can already make a difference. \n\n\n\nFor us\, it’s simple: as a community\, we can make a difference! \n\n\n\n\nMonthly beach clean-up | When & Where We Meet\n\n\n\n\nWe meet every month at 4:30 PM at Scuba Center Asia’s dive shop\, in the heart of the Mushroom Bay area. \n\n\n\nFrom there\, we head out together to clean the beach that is called Mushroom Beach. If we see that the surrounding streets also need a good clean-up\, we will add that to the clean-up. \n\n\n\nAfterwards\, we gather back at The Lounge to share a drink and swap stories about the funny\, strange\, or sometimes shocking things we found that day. Some days\, we’re amazed by how much trash we’ve collected in just one hour. \n\n\n\nOther days\, it’s the small moments that stick\, like seeing a random beachgoer put down their towel\, stand up\, and join in. Those moments are just really cool\, don’t you think?! \n\n\n\n\nMaking It Count | Recycling With Purpose\n\n\n\n\n\nA beach clean-up only truly matters if the waste is handled properly. That’s why we work together with the local recycling organization on Lembongan\, ensuring everything we collect is sorted\, processed\, and recycled correctly. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo greenwashing. No “trash moved from one place to another.”\n\n\n\nReal impact\, done the right way.\n\n\n\nThis Is Not New for Us.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’ve been doing this for years. Long before it was trendy. Long before it became social-media-friendly. Because as dive professionals\, we see the direct connection between what happens on land and what happens underwater. What washes up on the beach today ends up on the reef tomorrow. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe believe that “Divers don’t just visit the ocean\, they protect it”. Nowadays\, even more than a few years ago. Let’s have a look at the following! \n\n\n\n\n\nFrom awareness to action | how your relationship with the ocean changed\n\n\n\nLet’s have a closer look at how our\, read yours\, perception of the ocean changed throughout the years! And how proud we can be of taking action like our monthly beach clean-up now more than ever before. \n\n\n\n1. Awareness | Understanding That the Ocean Is Not Untouchable\n\n\n\nIn the 1960s and 1970s\, environmental awareness entered public consciousness for the first time. People began to realize that pollution and human activity could damage nature. At this stage\, the ocean was still seen as vast and endless\, but the first seeds of responsibility were planted. Scuba diving was still not really out there among the public. \n\n\n\nScuba diving was a niche activity for adventurers and scientists\, focused on exploration and discovery\, with little conversation around environmental impact \n\n\n\n2. Emotional Connection | Falling in Love With Marine Life\n\n\n\nDuring the 1980s and 1990s\, the ocean became personal. Whales\, dolphins\, turtles\, and coral reefs appeared in documentaries and media\, creating emotional bonds with marine life. People started caring not just about nature\, but about the life living in it. \n\n\n\nAs underwater imagery reached the mainstream\, scuba diving evolved into a bucket-list experience\, driven by fascination with marine life rather than responsibility for its protection. In other words\, men haven’t thought of a monthly beach clean-up yet. Interesting fact: one of our SCA founders got certified in 1995! \n\n\n\n3. Visibility | Seeing the Damage Clearly\n\n\n\nThe early 2000s brought undeniable proof. Coral bleaching\, plastic pollution\, and overfishing became visible through global media and underwater footage. The impact was no longer theoretical; it was happening right in front of us. \n\n\n\nWith reef damage and pollution becoming visible\, dive centers began talking about conservation\, but sustainability was still more of a message than a practice. \n\n\n\n4. Personal Responsibility | From Watching to Doing\n\n\n\nIn the 2010s\, the shift became personal. Social media\, community clean-ups\, and diver-led conservation showed that individual actions matter. The ocean was no longer “somewhere else.” It became something people felt responsible for protecting. \n\n\n\nDivers started to see themselves as ambassadors for the ocean\, choosing dive centers that promoted ethics\, education\, and active conservation. Interesting fact\, in 2010 Scuba Center Asia got created…and our founders were already very actively involved with PADI AWARE and educating beginner divers about the beauty of the ocean. \n\n\n\n5. Urgency | Protection as a Way of Life\n\n\n\nToday\, ocean protection is no longer a trend; it’s a necessity. Climate change\, warming seas\, and reef loss have made it clear that the health of the ocean directly affects our future. For many\, especially divers\, protecting the ocean has become part of their identity. \n\n\n\nAt this point in time\, scuba diving is a normal sport for everyone. And we are so happy it is. Because once you truly experience the ocean\, caring for it becomes second nature. \n\n\n\nSCA monthly beach clean-ups are part of a bigger picture\n\n\n\nOur monthly beach clean-ups are part of a bigger picture: a long-term commitment to conservation\, education\, and community\, both above and below the surface. And every small action adds up. That is why we host a beach clean-up every last Saturday of the month. Open to every single person who wants to be part of it. \n\n\n\n\nOur monthly beach clean-ups are part of a bigger picture: a long-term commitment to conservation\, education\, and community\, both above and below the surface. And every small action adds up. That is why we host a beach clean-up every last Saturday of the month. Open to every single person who wants to be part of it. \n\n\n\n\nWhy Scuba Divers Should Care\n\n\n\nAs divers\, we see the ocean differently. We don’t just swim through it; we enter its world. As a dive professional\, the ocean is our office. We witness healthy reefs full of life\, but we also see damaged coral\, drifting plastic\, and marine life affected by human impact. \n\n\n\nWhat happens on land never stays on land.\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery piece of trash left on the beach has the potential to end up in the ocean\, on the reef\, in a manta’s feeding path\, a turtle’s mouth\, or inside the food chain we are all part of.As a diver\, we unfortunately witness this too many times. This is why these monthly beach clean-ups (and clean-up dives) are so important! And as a diver/dive professional\, we feel that responsibility. \n\n\n\n\n\nBy joining beach clean-ups\, divers: \n\n\n\n\nProtect the dive sites they love and depend on. \n\n\n\nReduce the risk to marine life from plastics and debris\n\n\n\nLead by example for non-divers and future generations\n\n\n\nStrengthen the connection between diving and conservation\n\n\n\nBecome part of the solution\, not just observers.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWant to Join the Next Scuba Center Asia Beach Clean-up?\n\n\n\n\nYou don’t need experience. You don’t need to be a diver.Just show up with good energy and a willingness to help.📍 Meeting point: Scuba Center Asia\, Main Street Mushroom🕟 Time: 4:30 PM🌍 Who: Everyone on the islandBecause this is our home. And protecting it is simply what we do.

SUMMARY:UNESCO International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem
DESCRIPTION:Mangroves are unique ecosystems between land and sea. They support biodiversity\, protect coastal communities\, enhance food security\, and act as natural defenses against storms and erosion. Their soils are also powerful carbon sinks. \n\n\n\nYet mangroves are disappearing three to five times faster than overall global forest losses\, with serious ecological and socio-economic impacts. Current estimates indicate that mangrove coverage has been divided by two in the past 40 years.Established by UNESCO in 2015\, this Day raises awareness of mangroves’ importance and promotes their sustainable conservation. \n\n\n\nParticipate in the Scuba Center Asia Kayak tour in our local Mangroves to celebrate the Mangrove Ecosystem!

Read more… \n\n\n\n\nIf the IDC sounds like a new journey you would like to go on\, get in contact with us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions about the IDC\n\nWhat are the benefits of completing the IDC?\n\n\n\n\n\nThe PADI Instructor qualification is globally recognized.

SUMMARY:Beach Clean-up 2026 08
DESCRIPTION:The monthly beach clean-up on Lembongan island is what we do.

SUMMARY:Beach Clean-up 2026 09
DESCRIPTION:The monthly beach clean-up on Lembongan island is what we do. SUMMARY:Beach Clean-up 2026 10
DESCRIPTION:The monthly beach clean-up on Lembongan island is what we do.

SUMMARY:Beach Clean-up 2026 11
DESCRIPTION:The monthly beach clean-up on Lembongan island is what we do.
