Oceanic manta rays (Mobula birostris) are found in open oceans worldwide, while Atlantic manta rays (Mobula yarae) are found in coastal Atlantic waters. Atlantic mantas are a newly recognised species, identified by their unique shoulder markings and ventral spot patterns.
Oceanic Mantas can grow up to a 7m wingspan and are distuguished by their T-shapes shoulder markings. They are found in the open ocean across the globe.
