Sea turtles spend most of their lives at sea, with only the females returning to lay their eggs. However, they have lungs – which means they can NOT breathe underwater.
You’ll notice sea turtles come up for air quite often when you’re diving around Nusa Penida & Lembongan. When you see them do this, do not chase or go after them. Yes, it makes for beautiful photos, but if you scare the turtle into descending again – you’re risking the turtle drowning from lack of air.
